Influence Of Inserting Shenmen Points On Heart Rate Variability In Patients With Diabetic Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy

Objective:To observe the effect of acupuncture at Shenmen(HT7)points on HRV of DCAN,so as to provide scientific basis for clinical selection of acupuncture points in the treatment of this disease.Method:54 patients with DCAN were randomly divided into Shenmen group(27cases,1 case falling off)and Xuanzhong group(27 cases,1 case falling off).A total of 52 cases were included in the statistical analysis.Patients in Shenmen group were given acupuncture at bilateral Shenmen points,while Xuanzhong group were accepting inserting of both Xuanzhong(GB39)points.To record the instant changes of HRV frequency domain indexes(LF,HF,LF/HF)in5 minutes before/after acupuncture intervention in the two groups,and observe whether there is difference between them by contrastive analysis.Result:It was showed that there was statistical difference of HF in Shenmen group before/after treatment;nevertheless,there was no statistical significance in Xuanzhong group in any variation.There was no statistic difference between the two groups in the above HRV indexes before acupuncture,therefore,the baseline was comparable.After the acupuncture intervention,there was statistical significance of HF between Shenmen group and Xuanzhong group.Conclusion:Acupuncture at Shenmen points can specifically improve the activity of cardiac vagus nerve in patients with DCAN,providing the scientific basis for clinical selection of acupuncture points in the treatment of this disease.
