Objective This study aimed to investigate the level of blood lipid and the prevalence and distribution characteristics of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang, analysis its influencing factors and explore the relationship between them and related diseases, provide scientific basis for further research on the intervention measures and the means of prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia in Xinjiang Minority. Methods A centralized survey of 1484 individuals(aged ?18 years)was conducted using a stratified four-stage random sampling method in 6 villages of Halaqi and Sumutashi country in Aheqi County,in 2015.Questionnaire and physical examination were conducted, including collection of fasting blood to detect TG,TC,LDL-C and HDL-C and so forth. The prevalence was calculated after complex weighting and compared the prevalence of different gender and age groups.Data was analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences, version 17.0.Continuous variables were presented as means±standard deviations(m±sd),and were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA.Categorical variables were expressed as proportion(%)and frequency(n),and were analyzed using the Chi-square test or Chi-square trend test.As for dyslipidemia, adjusted odds ratio(OR)with associated 95%confidence,interval(95%CI)were calculated using multivariate logistic regression model.Results1.The overall levels of TG,TC,LDL-C and HDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were 1.01 ±0.64,4.24±0.87,2.63±0.82 and 1.18±0.31 mmol/L.The overall levels of TG,TC,LDL-C and HDL-C among men were 1.12±0.76,4.27±0.89,2.70±0.92 and 1.11 ±0.32 mmol/L.The overall levels of TG,TC,LDL-C and HDL-C among women were 0.93±0.50,4.22±0.86,2.57±0.73 and 1.25±0.28 mmol/L.The overall levels of TG,LDL-C and HDL-C among men was greater than that among women.2.The prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were 36.3%,4.1%,2.0%,3.3%and 33.0%.The prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among men were 48.2%,6.3%,1.8%,3.9%and 44.1%.The prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among women were 27.2%,2.3%,2.1%,2.8%and 23.9%.The prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia and low blood HDL-C among men were greater than that among women.3.The age-standardized prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were 36.8%,4.2%,2.1%,3.4%and 33.1%.The age-standardized prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among men were 48.4%,6.4%,1.8%,4.0%and 44.2%.The age-standardized prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among women were 27.3%,2.3%,2.2%,2.9%and 24.1%.The age-standardized prevalence of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among men were greater than that among women.4.The risk factors of dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were gender, educational,BMI and waist circumference, the protective factor of dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang was age.The risk factors of hypertriglyceridemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were gender,BMI,waist circumference and diabetes. The risk factors of hypercholesterolemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were waist circumference and hypertension. The protective factor of high blood LDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang was age.The risk factors of low blood HDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were gender, educational and BMI,the protective factor of low blood HDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang was age.5.Hypertriglyceridemia,hypercholesterolemia and high blood LDL-C among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang would increase the risk of hypertension.Dyslipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia would increase the risk of diabetes.Dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia and low blood HDL-C would increase the risk of hyperuricemia.Conclusion1.The prevalence of dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang was higher than the national average.2.Low blood HDL-C was the main type of dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang. The prevalence of dyslipidemia among men was greater than that among women, and there was a trend of younger showing dyslipidemia.3.The prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia, high blood LDL-C and low blood HDL-C among men was greater than that among women. The prevalence of hypercholesterolemia was lower than that among women.4.The risk factors of dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang were gender, educational,BMI and waist circumference. The protective factor of dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang was age.5.Dyslipidemia among Kirgiz in rural areas of Xinjiang would increase the risk of hypertension, diabetes and hyperuricemia.
