ObjectiveThe whole world is gradually entering the world's population aging society,with the speeding up of the population aging process,will lead to a series of social problems and public health problems.Reports reveal that Alzheimer's disease has seriously affected the quality of life in the elderly.The study of senile dementia in three districts and counties of Chongqing city by the elderly prevalence cross-sectional survey was conducted,the elderly people in Chongqing City,prevalence rate of senile dementia,and the impact of the risk factors and protective factors were discussed,in order to develop interventions to provide a scientific basis for decision-making departments.The study is mean to find out the prevalence and effect factors of dementia among the elderly in urban and rural areas of Chongqing communities,and to supply scientific evidence for policy decision department.MethodCluster sampling method was adopted,the elderly aged over 60 years old were extracted as the investigate objects from three counties of Chongqing.One on one,face to face investigation was conducted through self-made general information questionnaire,mini mental state examination(MMSE),instrumental activities daily life(IADL)and Geriatric depression scale(GDS).1?In general data,the data are described by the mean and standard deviation,and the frequency and composition ratio are used to describe the data;2?x2 test for comparison of data between groups;3?The prevalence of Alzheimer's disease is the ratio of the number of people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and the number of people surveyed,Logistic regression analysis of gender,age,education and other factors and the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease.ResultsOf the 1781 elderly patients,senile dementia were 186 cases,with the morbidity rate of 10.44%.Differences were statistically significant in morbidity rate of senile dementia in terms of different regions,ages,marital status,literacy,smoking,aquatic food-eating,exercising,intensive labor,frequent Mahjong-playing and chess-playing,obesity,hypertension,coronary heart disease and depression.However,there was no statistically significant difference in morbidity rate of senile dementia in terms of different genders,drinking,aquatic food-eating,religious belief,diabetes,stroke and insufficient cerebral blood supply.According to multiple Logistic regression analysis,senile dementia was associated with the factors of high ages,celibacy,daily intensive labor,coronary heart disease,smoking cessation,frequent exercising,weekly low intensity of labor at least once,daily house work,outdoor activities,TV-watching or radio-listening or newspaper-reading and social activities.ConclusionThe morbidity rate of senile dementia in surveyed area is relatively high,therefore,it is necessary to attach more importance to the prevention and control of senile dementia,and give close attention to the elderly with characteristics as high ages,celibacy,daily intensive labor,coronary heart disease.
