Objective:Through the measurement of the height, weight and lumbar bone mineral density(BMD),and the investigation of the way of life, past history and family history of some urban areas in Taiyuan of Shanxi province,to explore the influencing factors of BMD and understand the prevalence rate of osteoporosis of adults in some urban areas of Taiyuan. Thus, this research can provide a simplely, cheaply and scientificly clinical reference for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis for adults in urban areas of Taiyuan. Methods:In the urban residents of Taiyuan in Shanxi Province,1393 residents were randomly selected as the survey object.According to the integrity of the survey data and the inclusion criteria,529 were included as the research object. The research contents include:? questionnaire survey:basic data, previous fracture history, family history of osteoporosis, family history of fractures, history of smoking, history of alcohol consumption, drinking milk, sun exposure and exercise;?Physical examination:height, weight, body mass index;? BMD measurement:measured lumbar BMD using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.Using SPSS 17.0 statistical software for statistical analysis:the measurement data was expressed as ? ??!???????± s;the count data was expressed as percentage or rate;the measured data were tested by normal distribution, and the test results showed that the obtained data were normally distributed;multiple-group comparisons were performed using one-factor ANOVA,and between two groups were compared using LSD-t test;the comparison of the rate or the constituent ratio was performed using chi-square test or fisher probabilities in 2x2 table date method;multivariate analysis was performed using logistic regression analysis.P<0.05 indicates significant difference.Results:1.In the male and female population, lumbar BMD had statistical difference among young group, middle age group and old age group(P<0.05),and lumbar BMD decreased with the increase of age.In the male and female population, the prevalence rate of osteoporosis had statistical difference among young group, middle age group and old age group(P<0.05),and the prevalence rate of osteoporosis increased with the increase of age(the prevalence rate of osteoporosis in older women is higher than that of older men).2.In different age groups, lumbar BMD had statistical difference among normal weight group, overweight group and obese group(P<0.05),and the lumbar BMD decreased with the decrease of BMI.In the elderly population, the prevalence rate of osteoporosis had statistical difference among normal weight group, overweight group and obese group(P<0.05),and the prevalence rate of osteoporosis increased with the decrease of BMI.There was no statistical difference in the prevalence rate of osteoporosis among the different BMI groups in youth group and middle age group.3.In female, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),when menopausal group compared with non-menopausal group and perimenopausal group. There was no statistically significant difference between non-menopausal group and perimenopausal group.Lumbar BMD in menopause group was lower than that in non-menopausal group and periapause group. The prevalence rate of osteoporosis had statistical difference among non-menopausal group, perimenopausal group and menopausal group(P<0.05),and the prevalence rate of osteoporosis increased with the increase of the duration of menopause.4.Previous fracture history and family history of osteoporosis were risk factors for osteoporosis. The prevalence rate of osteoporosis was higher in these multitudes.5.Smoking and drinking were risk factors for osteoporosis, and daily consumption of milk, keeping physically active and increased sun exposure were the protective factors for osteoporosis. The prevalence rate of osteoporosis was higher in unhealthy lifestyle groups.Conclusions1.The prevalence rate of osteoporosis in some urban residents of Taiyuan was higher than the national average.2.Lumbar BMD decreased with the increase of age.The prevalence rate of osteoporosis increased with the increase of age.3.Lumbar BMD decreased with the decrease of BMI.In the elderly population, the prevalence rate of osteoporosis increased with the decrease of BMI.4.Lumbar BMD in menopause group was lower than that in non-menopausal group and periapause group. The prevalence rate of osteoporosis increased with the increase of the duration of menopause.5.Previous fracture history, family history of osteoporosis, smoking and drinking were risk factors for osteoporosis, and these factors could increase the prevalence rate of osteoporosis.
