Objective:To analyze the clinical effect for fibrous dysplasia in proximal femur, whether it is possible to reduce the complication and recurrence of patients with fibrous dysplasia of bone.Method:All the 40 cases of clinical information were from January 2005 to January 2015 at the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, and all the patients with the diagnosis of fibrous dysplasia have been pathologically confirmed.18 cases of men and 22 cases of women, whose age from 14 to 49,36 cases were unilateral affections and 4 cases were bilateral affections. The course of disease was from 1 months to 8 years with an average of 14 months, among them there are 3 cases were hip varus.Of the 40 patients,10 patients received intravenous infusion of bisphosphonates(drug group)and 30 patients underwent surgical treatment,9 cases were treated with lesion curettage and bone grafting(group 1),18 cases were treated with lesion curettage, bone graft and internal fixation(group 2),3 patients were treated with osteotomy orthopedic surgery(group 3).Result:40 patients were followed up form 12 to 134 months with an average follow-up time of 24 months.4 cases were found ineffective in the drug group(40%),and 2 cases of surgical treatment with recurrence(6.67%),and the other patients have a good hip function recovery at 12 months after operation. All the patients' internal fixation were stable.3 cases with shepherd's crook deformity, the collodiaphyseal angles recovered after surgery, after 12 months,Harris hip function score was 83 points,87 points,94 points. There was a significant difference in the recurrence rate between the drug group and the surgical group(P<0.05),and there were no significant differences in the age, sex, and surgical procedure of the Harris hip function scores at 12 months postoperatively(P>0.05).Conclusion:Surgery is a definite and effective way to treat fibrous dysplasia in proximal femur, and the postoperative hip function is well restored.Osteotomy can treat fibrous dysplasia in proximal femur with hip varus deformity.
