Liver is an important organ of the human body, liver failure will cause adverse effects on human health. At present, liver transplantation is an important means for the treatment of liver failure. However, due to the fewer sources of donor liver,it is necessary to improve the quality of donor liver.Hepatic perfusion is the key to cleaning and to preserving the donor liver before the transplantation, the suitable method of the hepatic perfusion is good to remove foreign matters and protect the liver tissue, which is beneficial to recover for the patients after the operation. Methods Two kinds of new hepatic perfusion methods, named as symmetric and asymmetric pulsating flow, are put forward based on the disadvantages of the constant flowand the few research on the medical perfusion parameters. The feasibility of the new methods is illustrated by analyzing the dynamic characteristics during the perfusion simulation. At first, the paper construct several blood vessels of different geometry and give the control equations. Then, the new perfusion methods are applied into the blood vessels under the analysis of two-way fluid-structure interaction to simulate the flow of the perfusate and the motion of vascular wall. Finally, the dynamics characteristics(including velocity, wall shear and vascular deformation)of the new perfusion methods are analyzed and compared with the results of constant flow perfusion. With the analysis to illustrate the feasibility of the new methods. Results The software ANSYS is used to simulate the hepatic perfusion, and the results clearly show the fluid dynamics. For a specific geometry using symmetric and asymmetric pulsating flow and constant flow perfusion to simulate, the change rules of velocity, wall shear and vascular deformation shows the same.Under the premise of successful perfusion, the vascular deformation during the symmetric and asymmetric pulsating flow is less than that of the constant flow perfusion. The perfusion of the new methods weakens the radial movement of the vascular wall, reducing the injury of the hepatic vascular tissue injury. With the same quantity of the perfusate, the vascular dynamics of different geometries in several methods are not same, and the results during the hepatic perfusion of the second asymmetric pulsating flow is better than that of the other perfusion methods. Conclusions The results illustrate the feasibility of the proposed perfusion methods in the by studying the dynamic characteristics during the hepatic perfusion in several vascular models, which provides a theoretical basis to improve the quality of donor liver in the clinic.
