ObjectiveThis study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 980 nm diode laser enucleation of the prostate(DiLEP)and transurethral plasmakinetic resection of prostate(PKRP)for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH),and provide an evidence of the use of 980 nm diode laser for clinical application.MethodFrom May 2015 to December 2016,a total of 111 patients with BPH wereenrolled in this study.Patients were treated with DiLEP(55 patients)or P KRP(56 patients)unrandomly.Safty was estimated by operation time?intraoperat ive blood loss?perioperative complications, postoperative bladder irrigation time, postoperative catheterization time, postoperative hospital stay recored during intra operative and postoperation.Efficacy quantified by changes in IPSS,QOL,Qmax,PVR was compared with the baseline.Results111 patients were successfully completed surgery and followed-up after operation. There were no significant difference between group DiLEP and group PKRP in age, course of disease, prostate volume,IPSS,QOL,Qmax,PVR and hemoglobin(P>0.05).The mean operation time was no significant difference between group DiLEP and group PKRP.However, the mean blood loss during surgery and the bladder irrigation times, catheterization times and hospital stays of postoperation in group DiLEP were significantly lower than those in group PKRP(P < 0.05).In terms of complations, group DiLEP and group PKRP were similar(P>0.05).Compared with baseline, significant improvement in IPSS,QOL,Qmax,PVR was seen in both groups at three months after surgery(P<0.05).There were no significant difference between the two groups in IPSS,QOL,Qmax and reducing of PVR(P>0.05).ConclusionBoth DiLEP and PKRP are safe and effective surgical methods for BPH.Compared with PKRP,Dilep provide a decreased risk of hemorrhage and faster postoperative recovery. |
