The Relationship Between Atrophic Glossitis And Anemia Factor

Objective: Atrophic glossitis is very common in the diseases of the oral mucosa.The reasons cause to Atrophic glossitis(AG)are complicated.By collecting clinical information,this study aim to find the relationship between AG and Vitamin B12,Serum Ferritin,folic acid and blood touine,these factors are related to anemia.Thus,we could give some help to doctors.Methods: Vitamin B12,Serum Ferritin,folic acid and touine blood were measured in33 AG patients.These patients were diagnosed by the doctoers of oral mucosa Department of Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from April 2015 to December2016.Patients diagnosed with Candidiasis or have taken some medicines with Vitamin,antibiotics,or iron in rencent two weeks were excluded.Of course,Patients with sjogren or have lingual papilla atrophy because of other diseases were excluded(Geographic tongue;Oral lichen planus;Median rhomboid glossitis;Radiation stomatitis).Find the relationship between AG and Vitamin B12,Serum Ferritin,folic acid and blood touine.Results: In 33 patients with AG,male: female is 1:4.5,the minimum age is 32,the maximum is 80.Average age is 57.9 years old.12 patients in 50-60 years old,10 patients in 60-70 years.The total number is 22(66.67%).19(57.58%)patients have some changes in hemoglobin,RBC,Hct.16(48.5%)patients have deficiency of Vitamin B12.10(30.3%)patients have deficiencies of Serum Ferritin.4(12.12%)patients both have deficiency of Vitamin B12 and Serum Ferritin.No one was found with the deficiency of folic acid in 33 patients.All of 7 patients diagnosed with macrocytic anemia have deficiency of Vitamin B12.All of 4 patients diagnosed with microcytic anemia have deficiency of Serum Ferritin.In 14 patients with the nomal touine blood,5 patients have deficiency of Vitamin B12 or Serum Ferritin.Conclusion: Atrophic glossitis occurs in middle-aged and old women.AG is related to factors associated with anemia.The main case of AG is a deficiency of Vitamin B12,then is Serum Ferritin.AG may have no matter with a deficiency of folic acid.Because the deficiency of Vitamin B12 or Serum Ferritin,Lingual papilla atrophy may earlier than the change of touine blood.
