ObjectiveTo investigate the curative effect and cognitive function change of subthalamic nucleus stimulation(STN-DBS)on patients with Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods13 cases of Parkinson's disease patients, the preoperative symptoms were taken as the baseline, the UPDRS(unified Parkinson's disease rating scale)and the MoCA(montreal cognitive assessment scale)was recorded. After bilateral subthalamic nucleus stimulation surgery, the patients were followed up regularly and the postoperative UPDRS and MoCA were recorded for comparative analysis at 1 months(DBS boot)?3 months?6 months.Results13 cases of Parkinson's disease patients with bilateral STN-DBS,the DBS system boot on the first month, the UPDRSII(activities of daily living)in the on and off state were improved by 24.7% and 27.5%,the UPDRSIII(motor examination)in the on and off state were improved by 25.8% and 21.5%,the MoCA was improved by-0.8%;On the third month, the UPDRSII in the on and off state were improved by 32.4% and 34.2%,the UPDRSIII in the on and off state were improved by 53.1% and 47.0%,the MoCA was improved by 1.3%;On the sixth month, the UPDRSII in the on and off state were improved by 40.2% and 40.0%,the UPDRSIII in the on and off state were improved by 57.4% and 47.9%,the MoCA was improved by 0.3%.ConclusionsSubthalamic nucleus stimulation is effective for the improvement of activities of daily living and motor symptoms in patients with Parkinson's disease, but no significant improvement of cognitive symptoms.
