A Research On The Changes Of Biochemical Indicators In The Serum Of Children After Convulsion Status Epilepticus

Purpose:To test the changes of neuron specific enolase?NSE?,S-100B,C reactive protein?CRP?,vascular endothelial growth factor?VEGF?and glial fibrillary acidic protein?GFAP?in serum of children after convulsion status epilepticus?CSE?,and to discuss their significance in clinical use.Methods:57 patients were divided into three groups:13 cases of viral encephalitis,30cases of generalized epilepsy and 14 cases of complicated febrile seizures.Control group contained 30 children.Theblood were taken at 1,4and 10 days after seizure in CSE group.The blood sample was takenonly one time in the control group.Preserve the samples in-80?refrigerator.Test the serum levels of NSE,S-100B,CRP,VEGF,GFAPwith DAS-ELISA.Analyze the statistic change of these biochemical indicators withSPSS17.0.Results:1.At the day 1 after CSE,the expressions of NSE,S-100B,VEGF were significant high,and remained high at 4^thday.The values at 10^thdayhad no significant difference comparedwith the control group.The level of CRP had a significant increase at1^stday,and declined at 4^thday and 10^thday.The value of GFAP can be found significant increased at 4^th day compared to the control group,and maintained till l0^th day.2.1)The serum level of NSE at 1^st day suggested there was no significant difference among the three CSE groups.At 4^th day the NSE level was significant high in encephalitis group than epilepsy and CFS group,while at 10^th day the NSE expression were no significantly different among the three groups.2)The serum level of S-100B in the encephalitis group was significantly higher than the other two groups in 1^stday and 4^th day.While at 10^th day,there was no significant difference among them.3)The expressions of CRP,VEGF and GFAP in all the three CSE groups were not significantly different in 1^st day,4^th day and 10^th day.Conclusion:1.The serum level of NSE,S-100B,VEGF in CSE patients increased at 1^st day and dropped at 10^thday,which can be used as early indicators of brain damage.2.The expressions of NSE and S-100B in encephalitis patients were higher than epilepsy and CFS group in early stage of convulsion status epilepticus,which can be useful in the diagnosis of these disease.3.As a nonspecific inflammation factor,CRP participates in the process of convulsion status epilepticus.At 1^th day,the level of CRP in CSE group was higher than that in control group,which indicates an important clinical significance of anti-inflammatory therapy in the treatment of CSE.
