Objective: To investigate the risk of cardiovascular disease and the related risk factors in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: Through retrospective analysis,a total of 500 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)who underwent no cardiovascular disease from September 2014 to May 2016 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanhua University were selected as the research object, the general information(such as age, gender, body mass index(BMI),systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),smoking history, diabetes course, etc.)and related biochemical indicators(such as glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein(LDL-C),serum creatinine(Cr))were collected, according to the coronary heart disease(CHD)risk score, the patients were divided into Low-risk group(10 Yr CHD Risk< 10%),Mid-risk group(10% Yr = 10 CHD Risk < 20%)and High-risk group(10 Yr CHD Risk ≥ 20%),to analyze the correlation between CHD risk and general data and biochemical indexes in three groups of patients. Results: Among the 500 T2 DM patients, the Low-risk group accounted for 31.6%,the Mid-risk group was 41.2%,and the High-risk group was 27.2%;the differences of age, smoking history,BMI,SBP,DBP,HbA1 c,TC,TG,HDL,LDL and Cr were statistically significant; After adjusting for age, gender, and BMI,the CHD risk was positively associated with smoking,SBP,DBP,TC,and LDL-C,and negatively correlated with HDL-C.Age,LDL-C,HDL-C,SBP,and smoking were independent predictors of CHD risk.Advanced age, smoking, high SBP and LDL-C levels were independent predictors for High-risk,and the High HDL-C level was an independent predictor for High-risk.Conclusions: The patients with T2 DM had a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, which was closely related to the age,smoking,SBP,LDL-C,and HDL-C.
