Objective To investigate the value of continuous lumbar drainage for the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage after intracranial rupture aneurysm embolization. Methods The medical record data in 63 cases of ruptured aneurysm treated by endovascular treatment were performed the retrospective analysis.63 patients diagnosed as aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage were divided into continuous lumbar drainage group and intermittent lumbar puncture group, continuous lumbar drainage group in the aneurysm embolization satisfied after 24-hours for lumbar cistern drainage continuously drainage of bloody cerebrospinal fluid, lumbar puncture group bloody cerebrospinal fluid was intermittently drained by lumber puncture after operation. The changes of red blood cells in cerebrospinal fluid, the post-operative cerebral vasospasm, hydrocephalus, epilepsy, the incidence of intracranial infection and mRS after 6 months were compared between the two groups to evaluate the clinical results. Results The removal of subarachnoid hemorrhage, the alleviation of the cerebral vasospasm(x2=4.054,P=0.044<0.05)and the hydrocephalus rate(χ2=4.630,P=0.031<0,05)were significantly better in continuous lumbar drainage group compared with the intermittent lumbar puncture group, but there was no significant difference between the two groups in epilepsy(χ2=0.055,P=0.815>0.05),intracranial infection(χ2=0.010,P=0.922>0.05)and mRS after 6 months(x2=2.138,P=0.544>0.05).Conclusions Continuous lumbar drainage is a safe and effective method of treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage after intracranial rupture aneurysm embolization, yet whether to improve the clinical prognosis of patients remains to be further studied.
