On The Suffering Consciousness Of The Bottom Literature In The New Century

The bottom literature has undoubtedly flourished in the contemporary literary world in a healthy, vigorous, and irresistible fashion. Characterized by distinct standpoints, acute literary views, and realistic style, these literary creations on lower class are not to ambiguously and frivolously depict social problems and lower-class life, but to bravely, violently and sternly critique them, and profoundly and actively concentrate on and explore life tribulation, in particular.Based on the sociological research methods, this thesis, regarding the tribulation consciousness in the bottom literature as the main research object, analyzed and examined several representative works of contemporary bottom literature, which deconstructed "tribulation consciousness" from two perspectives, i.e., "perception of tribulation" and "attitudes to tribulation". The thesis consists of four parts. Part One concerns the origin of tribulation consciousness and its coincidental association with the "bottom literature". Part Two touches upon the causes of tribulation creation, in which four aspects are discussed:(a) "revivifying" personal life experience in creation; (b) being faithful to personal thoughts in creation; (c) being influenced by regional cultures in creation; (d) persisting in the senses of mission and responsibility in creation. Part Three involves the realistic demonstration of tribulation configuration in texts, which revolves around the following three themes:(a) life poverty; (b) female miserable destiny; (c) survival marginalization. Part Four is about the stance on tribulation, which mainly analyzes the attitudes towards tribulation in the bottom literature:(a) endurance and resistance; (b) persistence and adherence; (c) pursuit and hope.This thesis attempts to figure out the writers'tribulation consciousness through its perception in the bottom literature, and fathom the spirits and strengths in pursuing tribulation value in the bottom literature through the analysis and deconstruction of the attitudes to tribulation held by those characters in the works. As a crucial field in the study of the bottom literature, tribulation consciousness particularly has increased the richness and profundity of novels in transcending and pursuing tribulation, and meanwhile, has equipped the bottom literature with eternal artistic tension.
