The religious figure painting Water-and-Land Paintings,is a worship gods image hanging in the dojo,when Buddhist temple held amphibious Puja ceremony at ancient time.Used to pray for the dead and from the dead,it is rich in folk art color. Accompanied by the emergence and development of the surface law, Water-and-Land Paintings gradually appear and become perfect.In the form of murals,it is divided into the amphibious fresco and amphibious scroll. The fresco generally is fixed to the wall, but the scroll is used to preach Buddhism doctrine,and pray for the people,hanging in the temple,when the scroll surface law is held out.After the end of ritual, people collect it to prepare for the next ritual.Because of the characteristics of the amphibious scroll painting, Water-and-Land Paintings of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has been scattered in private hands, and few people have done research on the past.This paper selects 61 pieces Water-and-Land Paintings materials of Hunan and Jiangxi during the Qing Dynasty,and uses literature, image analysis, statistical analysis, comparative analysis and other methods,to show existing the landscape painting basic situation of Hunan and Jiangxi during the Qing Dynasty, and further explore the religious belief and the characteristics of the people. The introduction part explains the research background, significance, status, and research ideas and methods. The text first introduces the origin and development of surface law, and the rise, development and content theme of Water-and-Land Paintings,and then introduces separately the existing Water-and-Land Paintings paintings of Hunan and Jiangxi during the Qing Dynasty. From the analysis of theme and content of 61 pieces Water-and-Land Paintings,we can conclude the local Water-and-Land Paintings have distinctive artistic features,including Taoist gods and the folk God prominent, paying attention to Character arrangement, all well-proportioned, recovered one's original simplicity style and obvious secular. Finally from the perspective of the relationship between Water-and-Land Paintings and folk beliefs, analyse the local people belief connotation in the period of Qing Dynasty.From the Water-and-Land Paintings of Hunan and Jiangxi in Qing Dynasty,we can see the local folk beliefs has the characteristics of diversity,which includes diversity fusion, the indigenous religion of Taoismbelief in gods and gods, theSecretary of the localization of Buddhism. The religious activities and people's psychological belief behind Water-and-Land Paintings reflects the utilitarian features of Hunan and Jiangxi folk beliefs.In the level of religious activities,it shows the diversity of Worship God entertainment activities, and in the level of religious psychology,it shows worship without selectivity and practicability.
