Definition is the core and soul of lexicography, and learner's dictionaries of Chinese as a foreign language(LDCFL) are the indispensable tools for foreign learners to study Chinese, therefore, the accuracy of the definition of LDCFL decides the acceptance of foreign learners. “Da” verbs refer to the verb “da” and the verbs containing the verbal morpheme “da”, which is a kind of action verbs, and it has great research value and significance. The traditional studies mainly focus on the native-speaker-oriented Chinese learner's dictionaries, providing us with the following information of “da” verbs, such as pronunciation, meaning, grammar, etc. However, no particular systematic studies concerning the definition model of “da” verbs in LDCFL have been conducted.Based on the multi-dimensional definition model of LDCFL, the thesis attempts to combine the multi-dimensional definition theory(MDDT) with the theory of norms and exploitations(TNE), so as to construct the new multi-dimensional definition model for “da” verbs in LDCFL. The new model includes six principles: semantic decomposition principle, semantic framework principle, complete sentence principle, simplicity principle, closed principle and gestalt principle. This research first chooses “da” verbs in three main LDCFL as research object--- Usage Dictionary of Chinese Words(UDCW), HSK Chinese Proficiency Test Dictionary(HSKCPTD) and The Commercial Press Learner's Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese(CPLDCC). The definition structure of “da” verbs is analyzed and the common problems are summarized. Then this thesis resorts to CNC to verify the senses of verb “da”. At last, according to TNE and MDDT, the thesis puts forward optimization and improvement suggestions to the definitions of “da” verbs in LDCFL.The research not only greatly improves the definition structure of “da” verbs in LDCFL, enriches and expands MDDT, but also is useful to improve the compilation quality of LDCFL.
