This is a translation project report on Chapter 17 of Future Crimes, written by Marc Goodman, who is a well-known authority on cyber security. This book was first published in the United States by Doubleday in February, 2015 and is reported as the bestseller by New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Chapter 17 of the book mainly describes the feasible actions we can take to solve or reduce the influence and damages cyber threats bring to us on levels of the nation, companies and individuals when facing the problems caused by the development of cyber technology. The analysis and advice in Chapter 17 are valuable for solving cyber problems we are facing.This report uses the Skopos theory as the guideline on the basis of text analysis. The theory believes that translator should adopt appropriate translation methods and techniques in accordance with the translation purposes and achieve the purposes in line with the coherence and fidelity rules as far as possible. At the end of this report, the translator summarizes the lessons that the author has learned in this project to guide the translation in the future.
