This is a translation report on Future Crimes, an excellent book on the technological crimes, by Marc Goodman, one of the world's leading authorities on global security. The chosen material, Chapter Seven, comprehensively reveals the severe impact on and heavy loss to people with regard to mobile security problems and shows them how to effectively protect themselves against hackers' attack on their cell phones. Besides, the text featuring concise and vivid language has its literary value and can act as a model for Chinese popular science writers to follow. Therefore, the material is confirmed to be a masterpiece worth popularizing by means of translation.The book, a popular science work, belongs to the informative text, the main aim of which is to bring people science knowledge and call them for action. In his translation process, under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence, the translator correctly conveys the information of the source text with the use of translation strategies including conversion, addition and reorganization of sentences.
