Children’s literature is the literature specially written for children. It sets interest, story and educational meaning in one, and aims to let children reap enjoyment and learn knowledge. While, since translators are adults, it is usually difficult for them to catch the essence of children’s literature, and thus the works of their translation always leave much to be desired. Upon this point, the author takes the Skopos theory as guidance to conduct the translation of children’s literature.Skopos theory is a kind of translation theory put forward by German functionalist translation experts. Its core principle is the purpose of translation. Translation purpose is determined by the expected readers. Their level of mental maturity, educational background and life experience will influence the translators how to translate and what effect should be achieved. As to the translation of children’s literature, the purpose should be translating for children, and the translation should reflect the fun in childhood, highlight educational effects, and finally make children readers of target language obtain the similar feeling as the readers of original work.On the basis of the writer’s translation practice of children’s literature The Lost Treasure of Persia(chapter5-9),this report records how to make choice between literal translation and free translation, contents and forms, and how to solve the problems of word choice, sentence exchange, conversations, and scene description via proper translation skills, to achieve the aim of getting mutual communication with other translation lovers and improve translation skills together.
