“Suspense” is involved in most of the narrative artistic works. In this paper, the designing of suspense refers in particular to the artistic creation activity. It is both a narrative technique and method that used by the author and a process where the author presupposes the aesthetic taste of the audiences in order to arouse the corresponding suspense mood among them. However, currently, there appears the symptom of the suspense heterization in domestic drama. This kind of heterization mainly aims at stimulating audiences' instinctive passion, or leading the aesthetic experience of the audiences to a pleasant sensation of novelty, while it may often ignore the scheduling of suspense which could make the audiences feel nervous and doubt. This paper will introduce three main methods of designing suspense used by the author when he produced the script of the first three episodes of “Blood-Plum”(Xue Meihua in Chinese). The first method is to creat an information gap which could provide more information of dramatis personae, or highlight the key information. The second method was to produce psychological identity, especially to use the actor's behaviour to ensure that the audiences can have identification. The last one is that the author will work out many different kinds of timing narrative to create suspense mood, especially the use of the “time magic” to set delays or pressing in drama. In this paper, the author will therefore focus on creating suspense that is based on the story and plot. At the same time, the author will avoid the drawbacks mentioned above.
