With the development of cognitive psychology and information technology, scientists now have a more profound understanding of the mechanism of the cerebral system giving impetus to the interdisciplinary studies on interpreting, with approaches from cognitive psychology. At the beginning of 21 st century, by using pupil meter, Seeber analyzed cognitive loads in sight interpreting with measurable date and developed the Multi-channel Cognitive Load Theory.Under the theory of Multi-channel Cognitive Load, this paper has conducted an empirical study, which analyzes the relations between the synchronized information input and cognitive barriers. In the experiment, this paper has employed a smart script-speech broadcasting software to synchronize information input and a thermal camera to monitor interpreters' orbital movement. The experiment results that the synchronization of information input mitigates cognitive barriers, also corroborate Seeber's argument. This paper is composed of three parts, including five chapters in between. The first part, a brief introduction, clarifies primarily background to the study, research purpose, and the layout of this paper, with an illustration of some ideas. The second part is the main body, including five chapters. The first chapter is theoretic frameworks expatiating Multi-channel Cognitive Theory and two types of cognitive barriers. In the second chapter, this paper reviews the key literature and relevant studies on cognitive barriers in sight interpreting. The third and fourth chapter consist of the empirical studies, which has examined the interpreters' energy consumption and verbal reproduction with quantitative approaches. In chapter five, implications and limitations of this study are given. In the end, a natural conclusion is drawn to wrap up the author's idea.
