This is a translation report of Drinking Water. The source text comes from chapter one(Role of Water in Human Life) and the first section of chapter two(Unique Properties of Water) of Drinking Water by Vladyslav V. Goncharuk. Chapter one emphasizes on the significance of drinking water in human lives and its favorable and unfavorable influences on human beings. The first section of chapter two aims at the physical and chemical properties of water. The translation of the source text brings a brand new view of water for average readers and offers the latest ideas and techniques for researchers and workers in the field of water treatment. The translator was guided by the theory of translation quality assessment model by Juliane House in this report. She compared the source and target texts in accordance with House's translation quality assessment model in field, tenor, mode, and genre and showed the application of this model in detail. There were plenty of chemical and physical terms and formula and molecular structure diagrams of water in the source text which turns out to be the translation difficulties. Methods applied were literal translation and free translation, and translation skills used were conversion and division. In the last chapter, lessons that can be learned from the translation practice and problems to be solved were mentioned.
