| This is a project report on the translation of Software and Mind: The Mechanistic Myth and Its Consequences by Andrei Sorin, and the “Introduction: The Mechanistic Myth” is the source text. The author Andrei Sorin tries to find the reason for the unsettled problems in modern society through the analysis of the development of human societies, and puts forward his theory of society based on myths, thus to inspire thoughts on the direction of future social development. The report consists of five parts: the first part is the introduction to the translation project report, including its background, significance and structure; the second part is the background information of the source text, including the introduction to the author and the text content, and the linguistic features of the source text; the third part is about the translation difficulties. The author is most of the time talking about abstract concepts in fields of philosophy, sociology and anthropology, and the different cultural background also adds to the difficulty; the fourth part is the translation principles and solutions. The translation solutions mainly include parallel text, inversion and division; the fifth part is the conclusion of experience, lessons and unsolved problems in the translation process. |
