Game Changer: The Technoscientific Revolution In Sports (Excerpt) Noun Clause Chinese Translation Practice Report

Over the past hundred years,technical science of sports has continuously been developing.Translation demands of sport-related technical science texts are increasing.This report is taken from scientific text.Nominal clauses are characterized by long sentences and strong logicality.Translation skills of those nominal clauses can help translators to improve the quality of the translation text.It is also of great significance in translating the same type of texts,and it is helpful for readers to understand the latest scientific and technological progress in sports.Based on the translation of the first selected five chapters of Game Changer: The Technoscientific Revolution in Sports,this translation practice report mainly studies translating skills of nominal clauses.In order to improve translation quality,the author follows the translation standards of “faithfulness” and “smoothness”.It is the key and difficult points to use translation skills correctly,namely,inversion translation;sequencing method;division method;synthetic method.In the studies of 20 cases,those four translation methods are adopted to explore and study the translation of nominal clauses.This practice report is mainly divided into four parts: the task description of this practice report;the stage of text translation,including translation preparation,translation process and post-translation matters;case studies of nominal clauses;summary of translation practice.Translation cases of nominal clauses taken from this translation practice are analyzed,which are hopefully to translate the smooth and professional sport-related technical texts under the guidance of translation methods.At the same time,it is hoped to help improve the translation quality and improve the translation skills of those nominal clauses of the same type of text.
