Transportation by canal is very important for feudalistic,especially the economic center moved to the south of the country,the central government much more relied on the crops from the south.The canal governor-general instituted in Ming Dynasty has become a full-time management affair of crops transportation.The ruler inherited canal transport system centered the canal governor-general,and perfected the canal transport system in Qing Dynasty.Since then,the canal governor-general became one of the important parts of the governor system,and is closely related with the Qing Dynasty.The study gathered Facts of the Qing Dynasty,Draft History of Qing,Essays by the Contemporaries,based on the previous study,combed the office and community of the canal governor-general.This study includes four chapters concerning to the canal governor-general: the installation,the structure and sub-division,the role,and the relationship with the other governors.In the first chapter,the discussion of the installation and abolishment on that office was focused on the succession and adjustment.In the second chapter,the structure and sub-division was analyzed in detail about the governor personal nation,career path,term of office,departure,then,the sub-divisions were analyzed according to virtue and talent.So we can glimpse that the ruler governor the canal governor-general by the selection of the standards and conditions.And we can also get to know the performances of the canal governor-generals.The normal operation of the whole country was maintained by transportation healthily.And the canal governor-general played an important role in the transportation by canal.So the third chapter mainly introduces the effect of the canal governor-general,which contains transportation affairs,military,and the civil affairs.This chapter makes us know the important role of the canal governor-general.The canal governor-general,which was one of the important parts of the governor system,had a close connection with the other governors,especially in the aspect of transportation by canal.The fourth chapter analyzes the transportation cooperation and conflict between the governor and other governors.
