Fuzhou Chiyi Study

Fuzhou Chiyi,a traditional opera art in which singing is the main part supported by occasional talking,was once loved by Fuzhou people.However,entering the 21 st century,under the shock of foreign cultures,it has been faced with serious problemssuch as decreasing performing places and opportunities,shortage of young artists ready to take over the old ones,severe loss of opera scrip and art schools,making it difficult to pass on,which demands effective and support and strong protection from the government.Therefore,on May twentieth,2006,under the approval of the State Council,Fuzhou Chiyi was listed in the first group of National Non-material Cultural Heritage,thus enabling Chiyi to be passed down in schools and among the people.Under such an opportunity,the author,taking Fuzhou Chiyi as the research subject from its origin,artistic characteristics and inheritance ways,gives my prospect in protecting Fuzhou Chiyi,aiming to make a humble contribution to protecting the opera art in my hometown.This paper is divided into five parts,including a general introduction,three chapters and a conclusion,in which the introduction mainly discusses the background,current situation,significance and method of the research.Chapter one mainly combs the origin of Fuzhou Chiyi from the aspects of its naming,geographical distribution and historical line.Chapter two gives a thorough analysis on the characteristics of Fuzhou Chiyi in terms of language,music and performance,thus revealing the artistic characteristics of this opera art.Chapter three studies the inheritance ways of Fuzhou Chiyi through a field survey,and gives the author's prospect on the inheritance of Fuzhou Chiyi.The last conclusion part is the summary of the paper.
