Yang Hongying is famous as a contemporary Chinese children's book author. Her works are welcomed by both the little readers and their parents. Books such as Girls' Diary, Mo's Mischief and Laughing Cat Diary, all surprises the literature world with its good performance in the bestselling list, which is named as ‘Phenomenon of Yang Hong-ying'. However, current research on her works is very limited both in the amount and in the analytical perspectives. Linguistic view is rarely used in the relevant study.The series of Laughing Cat Diary is the representative of Yang Hongying's fairytales. By May 2014, 19 books in this series have been published. Various rhetoric methods are used in these books, showing the unique language style of the author. Using statistical classification and comparison, this study summarizes the rhetoric approach and rhetoric features in Yang Hongying's fairytale by examining the rhetoric phenomenon and language variants used in Laughing Cat Diary. Detailed exploration of how Yang Hongying implements rhetorical methods is done with examples in Laughing Cat Diary. Based on this analysis, attempts are made to reveal the causes of Phenomenon of Yang Hongying in order to provide inspiration for other authors in fairytale writing.The series of Laughing Cat Diary has got many achievements in the term of rherotic, which reflect Yang's distinctive personal features, that is the humorous language features full of children's taste. In Laughing Cat Diary, Yang Hongying presents a comprehensive application of diverse rhetorical methods, including phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and figures of speech, which makes the language vivid, interesting and expressive. Thus, the study analyzes the phonetics rhetoric, vocabulary rhetoric, sentence rhetoric, and figures of speech in Laughing Cat Diary with examples. In terms of phonetics, by using summation tune, onomatopoeia and rhyme, Yang Hongying brings much rhythmic and musical beauty to the language. In terms of vocabulary, the book tries to express rich information with limited words. By artfully organizing words and using idioms and four-character combination, the author successfully refines the expression in the book. As for sentence, the grammar used in the book is accurate. The emotion and personality of the characters are well presented by using concise sentences with various tones, making the language more lively. As for figures of speech, diverse figures of speech are applied to improve the effects of language, including personification, metaphor, parallelism, exaggeration, adduction, imitation, rhetorical question, metonymy, and anadiplosis.
