Study On Artistic Expression Of Lines In Oil Painting Works

Lines,as one of the most original and visual expression,could be treated as the prototype of painting.At the beginning of its creation,it was used for objective description and representation.When time came to that beyond the Renaissance,the expression by using lines as the object outline got the decisive position.However,together with the development of arts and cultures,as the change of minds of artists,lines within the frame seems to hide themselves behind colors and structures.Just at the timing when lines nearly disappeared,it feels like that Eastern paintings brought inspiration to Western artists.Lines returned to the frame with a different form: the expression and cohesion of it has come in the sights of artists,and further developed in the frame.Since then,the appearance of lines means not only the representation of objects,but also containers with mind and dream of artists,and becomes one of the spiritual indication in the frame.It shows space for development in oil painting works,and furthermore,extends space for the future of oil painting.In this thesis,it begins from the origin of lines,combining pictures and texts to describe the development and evolution of lines during the development process.Through unveiling the language of lines from different periods,different artists,and different works,to understand the minds and spirits behind it.Then this thesis also gives a summary on the enlightening and influence of Eastern painting on the masters of painting in the modern time.Basing on experience and feeling of the language of lines,through further understanding of the fascination and attraction of it behind the painting,it should be able to improve the aesthetic appreciation of arts,and be able to conclude the approach for my own creation in the future,to eventually create more and more valuable,meaningful oil painting works.
