The Research On Mythical Motif Of Aitmatov

Chinghiz Aitmatov is The former Soviet Union writer. His novels had been awarded USSR State Prize and The Lenin Prize many times, and been translated into more than one hundred languages. Chinghiz Aitmatov is also a writer, who has bold exploration and innovation in art creation. He introduces the myth in his novel and changes the myth. Myths become a feature of Aitmatov's novels. In Aitmatov's novels, we not only deeply understand the myth world of Aitmatov, but also clearly understand that myth plays an important role in Aitmatov's novels.Motif is the most basic elements of the plot and one of the subjects of literary theory and comparative literature. In this thesis we regard Motif as a way to study myth, and with Aitmatov's novels as the research object, analyze the myths in Aitmatov's works from the angle of motif and comprehend the connotation.In this thesis, the main structure is divided into three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion.The introduction consists of three aspects. The first aspect introduces the Aitmatov's lifetime and works. The second aspect is briefly given the study at home and abroad on Aitmatov. The last we expound the content, methods, significance and the innovation place of this thesis.The main body of this thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter of this thesis focuses on the definition, characteristic (legibility, independence, succession, nationality and cosmopolitan) and representation (image, plot, circumstance) of Motif and Mythical Motif. In chapter Two, on the one hand, we intensive study the Aitmatov's Mythical Motif including totemism (the manifestation and significance of totemism), death (the manifestation and effect), water (the manifestation and image). On the other hand, we study the influence factor of Aitmatov's Mythical Motif creation, mainly includes the living environment, family, religion, and other factor, total four aspects. The third chapter we study the important function of Aitmatov's Mythical Motif. Mythical Motif plays an important role in characters of novels, the development of the plot and the theme's deepening.In the conclusion, we summarize the thesis in order to have a good understanding of Aitmatov's Mythical Motif on the whole. By studying the Mythical Motif in Aitmatov's novels, we can comprehend his novels from a new angle, and feel the enlightenment of Mythical Motif to modern. At the same time point out the thesis's significance and problem, we hope other scholar will supplement and do the further study.
