On The Creative Application Of Leather Carving In Furniture With Cultural Characteristics

Leather Carving is a cultural resource unique to Inner Mongolia and is popular among a great number of consumers. Traditional carving art mostly exists in the form of decorative painting and arts and crafts. This thesis focuses on how to tap the advantage of its featured resources, expand application fields, drive the development of relevant industries and give full play to the aesthetic and decorative role of carving art in furniture products.As an important carrier of cultural messages in different countries, regions and nationalities, furniture with traditional cultural characteristics has its striking functions and styles. It has formed its unique design languages and forms during the long developing process of the industry. With the development of modern society, people's way of life has changed and market demand for furniture with cultural characteristics become more plural and diverse, which is embodied in many aspects including form, material, craft and aesthetics etc.By analyzing the functional features and aesthetic value of leather carving art, and using practices of creative design of furniture with cultural characteristics for reference, this thesis aims to elaborate the resource characteristics, fashion characteristics and cultural characteristics embodied in leather carving art. Under the backdrop that local SMEs are actively seeking industrial development and product design innovation, carving art needs to be expanded to new application fields, and the design of furniture with cultural characteristics also needs new ideas, new materials and new decorative elements as means of innovation, which provides preconditions for the combination of the two.This thesis discusses the application methods of carving art in the design of furniture with cultural characteristics with the aim to tap its specific advantages including "material beauty", "decorative beauty" and "cultural beauty" etc. Using the flexible material of the leather carving art to reflect the practical function of the furniture with cultural characteristics; Using the color texture characteristic of the art of the skin to reflect the decorative function of the furniture with cultural characteristics; Using the characteristic of the graphic design of the art of the skin is embodied in the aesthetic function of the furniture with cultural characteristics. This thesis aims to better conduct strategic design application and promotion as well as provides theoretical discussion and reference for the creative design research and practice of relevant products.
