A Report On The Translation Of Postgraduate Student Handbook "Blue Book"(Chapter4)

This is a report on the translation of Chapter 4 from Postgraduate Student Handbook"Blue Book".The handbook was downloaded from the official website of Brasenose College.The source text is about rules and regulations of accommodation and facilities.This translation report consists of two main parts.The first part includes five chapters,namely introduction,translation description,difficulties and relevant solutions,application of CAT software and conclusion.The second part is an appendix,including the source text,its translated text and proper names.Chapter one consists of background information as well as objective and significance of the project.Chapter two covers process description,namely preparations before translation,during the translation and work after the translation.Chapter three consists of difficulties and relevant solutions.Chapter four presents application of CAT software while Chapter five is about conclusion.Because a large number of proper numbers emerges repeatedly in the source text,the translator used Computer-Assisted Translation(CAT)software,namely SDL Trados Studio and SDL Trados MultiTerm 2014 Desktop,to complete the whole project so that quality,efficiency and consistency of the translation can be ensured.And the translator hopes that the experience of using CAT can serve as a reference for other translators in translating the similar source text.
