Research On Construction Of English Major Education Model In Independent College

The construction of systematic education system based on the characteristics of the students in independent college, and the development of students' application ability are the key points for the growth of independent college. As one of the important sections in Chinese undergraduate education system, the construction of education system for English major has always been among the hot issues. The teaching method, training concept and education objective always play important roles in forming its unique features, self brand building-up and self development.With the analysis of the characteristics of undergraduates in independent college and independent college itself, the paper is trying to find the distinguishing features of independent college compared with the traditional college. Analyzing the distinguishing feature of language in the field of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, the paper concludes that it is not appropriate to have traditional “teacher-oriented” teaching method. It also further summarizes the breaking points in constructing the educational system, and offers the key sections in constructing the education system of English major undergraduates in independent college. From the perspective of teaching practice, the paper suggests that it is important to strengthen the students' basis of English level through involving the culture instruction, and using motivation theories for reference. The construction is also required to put the related contents covering the analysis of demand theories and the design of motivation process into practice. The aims of the education systematic construction are to summarize the characteristics of the students in independent college, building up appropriate education system with unique features and explore a suitable way of constructing English major education system in independent college so as to make constructive proposals to the related areas.
