Writing is a practice of using English knowledge comprehensively.The current status of English writing teaching in vocational college is not optimistic.As an important part of process writing theory,peer evaluation has attracted more and more attention.Overseas researches on peer evaluation were mostly done in the ESL environment.Domestic researches mainly chose undergraduate English major students as the research objects,but just a few chose higher vocational students as the research subjects.This thesis summarized the related research both at home and abroad,chose the vocational college students as the research objects,took the form of peer evaluation in groups and anonymous evaluation between groups,tried to apply the peer evaluation method to the vocational English writing teaching,in order to enhance students' interest in English writing and improve the effect of English writing teaching.This thesis is mainly to solve three problems:(1)Can peer evaluation method effectively improve the level of vocational college students' English practical writing?(2)What are the vocational college students' attitudes towards the peer evaluation method?(3)What types of evaluation do the vocational college students incorporate in modifying their writing?The thesis studied whether peer evaluation method can improve the level of vocational college students' practical English writing through the comparative analysis of the scores of the pre-test and the post-test of the experimental class and the control class;investigated students' attitudes towards the peer evaluation method through the analysis of the two questionnaires and the interview,concluded what types of evaluation the vocational college students incorporate in modification by collecting and comparing the manuscripts and the peer evaluation scale of the experimental class.After 16 weeks' experiment,this thesis draws the following conclusions:(1)the English writing scores of the experimental class and the control class were improved.The score of the experimental class increases slightly higher than that of the control class and there are significant differences between the two classes.Peer evaluation method can reduce the differences between students' scores and effectively improve the level of vocational college students' English practical writing.(2)The majority of students accepted peer evaluation writing method.They like reading their classmates' compositions and do group discussion,but don't like to write comments.They believe they can revise their classmates' drafts objectively,but their confidence of finding out the advantages and disadvantages of peer composition is low.(3)The vocational college students incorporate peer advice at high utilization rate in grammar,vocabulary and the technical details.Peer evaluation method improves the students' ability of modifying the composition in content.After a period of experiment,students begin to pay close attention to the content.The students with the medium writing level have the highest utilization rate of peers' opinion.Finally the thesis puts forward some suggestions with the hope of giving some help to the higher vocational English writing teaching.
