As a kind of pragmatic resources identity can be used by communicators to achieve communicative needs. The identities are not constructed at the same time in specific stage of conversation. The dynamic construction of identities which could affect the present conversation can be called the identity construction. Many domestic and international scholars focus on identity constructions in communications. But previous studies on dynamic adaptation of identity construction are not too much.On the basis of Adaption Theory the present study chooses the motor corporations' after-sales telephone interviews as the source to dig out the telephone interviewers' identity construction. This study tries to discuss telephone interviewers' identity construction from the following two aspects:1 What are the categories of telephone interviewers' identity constructions in telephone interviews?2 How are the identities constructed in telephone interviews? The present study colllects 49 valid recordings and makes a statistic of telephone interviewers' identity constructions as well as their speech acts. This study is conducted to identify and categorize the categories of telephone interviewers' identity constructions, point out and analyze how are the identities constructed through adapting to the context. The study finds:Firstly,in order to achieve the communicative needs telephone interviewers construct different identities in telephone interviews including the authority identity, companionate identity and cooperative identity. These identity constructions have the property of variability. The variability of authority identity manifests in using technical terms, inquiring interrogation, formation and interruption. The manifestation of companionate identity reveals in offering care, giving wishes and using approving words. The construction of cooperative identity reflects in offering encouragement, explaining questions and offering help.Secondly, telephone interviewers construct different identities by adapting to the context. In order to achieve the communicative needs telephone interviewers construct different identities by adapting to the physical world which includes time and space, social world which includes affects and face and mental world includes power relations, close relations and culture.Generally speaking, this study shows that telephone interviewers' identity constructions reveal the dynamic adaptation which reflect in the variability of telephone interviewers' identity constructions and the negotiability of telephone interviewers' identity constructions. In order to increase the opportunity of achieving the communicative needs telephone interviewers construct different identities by using self identities and adapting to related context under the guidence of metapragmatic awareness. This study focusing on analyzing telephone interviews' conversation expects to contribute to the understanding of telephone interviews' characteristic. Also it tries to raise some enlightenment of telephone interviewers' skills which could contribute to accomplish the telephone interviews effectively.
