The Study On The Location Of Yao In Xun Shuang's Yi-Ology System

As "the source of Dao", ZhouYi has profound meanings, but its language is obscure and hard to read — remarks appended to the Yao is organized by "image+scene+judgment", and there is no necessary connection between many "images+scenes" and "judgments" in meaning. Confucius, as an ancestor of Chinese education, explored a way of " interpret Yao of ZhouYi by their position",that means interpret the Yao of ZhouYi by the relationship of yin—yang attributes and the position of Yao. And this theory is called "the theory of the position of Yao of ZhouYi". With this approach," disorganized statement of ZhouYi is connected in series. It is a suitable way to sort out the meaning of Yi through good blessings and ill fortunes presented by the different characteristics of the position of Yao.Xun Shuang is a famous Yi Jing scholars in images and symbols during the eastern han dynasty. Disordered social environment, the dispute of Jin-Gu, profound family origin, deep sources and learning yi-ology of Jin-Gu from his teachers have a profound influence on the construction of his yi-ology system. Based on his profound old classics yi-ology, Xun Shuang widely absorbed jinwen classics of Meng Xi and Jing Fang etc. He abandoned the thought of catastrophe and creatively put forward "hexagram-transformation theory"and "rise and fall theory" on the foundation of attaching importance to yin and yang which enlarge the application scope of "the theory of the position of Yao of ZhouYi" and promote the development of the image-numberology in the Yi in eastern han dynasty. And Xun Shuang reflected on the problem of scholarism at that time. Through the annotation of ZhouYi, he intended to explore the reconstruction of the stable social order and made contribution to the recovery of the eastern han dynasty rule. Xun Shuang is a scholar of noting image-numberology ? in Yi. On the foundation of exploring the deep meaning of "image",Xun Shuang abandoned the thought of catastrophe and inherited the thought of yin and yang. Then he reasoned the role of "image" in the process of noting classics and put forward many distinctive theories. He especially focused on corresponding relationship of image, Yao and judgment, put the thought of "position theory" under his yi-ology system and enrich this theory which made a important contribution to the study of yi-ology for later generations.Xun Shuang's yi-ology system mainly includes" the theory of form and utilization of qian and kun", "hexagram-transformation theory" and "rise and fall theory" etc. And "hexagram-transformation theory" and "rise and fall theory" are his original thoughts on which his theory of the position of Yao of Zhou Yi is based. And he thought the position of Yao in images is not static, and we should analyze these Yao in dynamic view of change-rising and fall then explore the situation of static position of Yao and its change rule and trend of development and explan the trend of Yao of yin-yang change from constant position to alterable position according to examples of positional changes of Yao. Xun Shuang developed the thought of interpret Yi by the position of Yao in Zhou Yi and he combined that theory with "hexagram-transformation theory" and "rise and fall theory". Paying attention to interpret Yi from change perspective, he explored the relationship between images, Yao and judgment and the general laws of ZhouYi, thus provide us with the evidences of good blessings and ill fortunes.Besides, by exerting the change examples of Yao expertly,fully and largely, Xun Shuang fully presented the using characteristics and thought of "neutral position theory", "normal position theory", "cheng","cheng" and "corresponding theory" which is useful for us to study and use" the theory of the position of Yao".This paper mainly studies "the theory of form and utilization of qian and kun", "hexagram-transformation theory" and "rise and fall theory" which are important and creative in Xun Shuang's yi-ology system to research "the theory of the position of Yao" of Xun Shuang. This paper sort out and analyze the examples of the change of the position of Yao and classify them by the notions of "normal position theory", "neutral position theory", "corresponding theory","cheng" and "cheng", then analyze the thought of Xun Shuang in using these methods. Finally, present the though and method of explaining Yi by images of Yi Jing scholars in images and symbols in han dynasty by the examples of the change of Yao.
