During a hundred year,with the developing of science and technology,the ecological issues are getting emerge in endlessly.Meanwhile the relationship between human and nature seems appeared cracks.Nowadays human beings have making lots of efforts for solving the problems,such as taking measures of the economy,science and law,as well as the ethics which is the spiritual guide of human practice.The western environmental ethics have been generated various schools,Paul W.Taylor is one of the greatest ethicists who has a unique way in solving the ecological issues.This thesis is gonging to introduce and analyze Paul W.Taylor's theory,the respect for nature,for giving an insight into the western environmental ethicsThis thesis is consisting of five parts:1.The theoretical background of Taylor's environmental ethics.2.The moral attitude of respect for nature.3.Taylor 's biocentrism view of nature.4.The basic principles and the priority principles of human behavior from Taylor's theory.5.The expandable of moral concern.To be more specific,the first chapter is a introduction,which is based on the history of the environmental ethics,including the birth and development of the western environmental ethics,the two major schools of it,which namely anthropocentrism theory and anti-anthropocentrism theory.It also introduces two greatest ethicists in the western,Albert Schweitzer and Holmes Rolston.The second chapter is emphasis on the demonstrate of the moral attitude of the theory.The third chapter is analyzing the biocentrism outlook,which is the basic of the moral attitude.The fourth chapter explained and analyzed the moral rules of human behavior.Finally,the fifth chapter is approving the reasonability of expanding scope of moral concern in the western environmental ethics.Paul W.Taylor is advocates the sense of equality of species and respect for nature in the western academia,it is a moral and merit attitude for human beings,it can be a great benefit for human and nature.
