French contemporary oil painting master Claude Yvel invited by Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, to held oil painting materials and techniques workshop in China, in June 1988 and May 1991. Due to various historical and objective reasons, the main contact of our country's art workers is the direct paintings of the Soviet Union since the systematic study of oil painting. Intensive studies were lacked in the traditional Western painting and "indirect painting" which has a profound history. The study of the materials and techniques of oil painting also remain in the early sketches of study abroad painter and indirect teaching. Mr Yvel's arrival was maked up the Western tradition of painting materials and techniques in order to supply a gap of China. The traditional transparent cover dyeing also injects new ideas for the painting at that time, and set off a “material heat”.According to the relevant books and the periodical reports to sort out the workshop, I hope clearly restored the history of the workshop. Analysis of the unique characteristics of the material technique, and the relationship between representatives of Chinese and foreign artists of the same technical category. Analysis of the realistic painting influences on China.
