Language is the carrier of culture, and cultural heritage is dependent on the language. Chinese and English code-mixing is one of the Chinese and western cultural fusion performances. Using code-mixing of reflection is not only a language problem, also reflects Chinese and English code-mixing phenomenon influenced by western cultural viewpoint, the influence of the thinking mode, life style, etc. Chinese and English code-mixing as a common phenomenon contact has been widely paid attention to from different fields, including literature and the mass media such as advertisement, which involves the linguistic theory and function of social linguistics, psycholinguistics, etc. Chinese and English code-mixing phenomenon also reflects the cultural diversity and inclusiveness. This language phenomenon is particularly common in college postgraduate groups. The significance of this study was to explore the phenomenon of Chinese and English code-mixing in the motivation, meaning and the prospect of future development.This paper first starts with the definition, types and functions of code-mixing, and then analyzes the research status both at home and abroad, based on the theoretical framework. This article adopts the model of compliance in linguistics as the theoretical support of Chinese and English code-mixing research, main respectively from the aspects of language reality, social convention and psychological motivation through a practical example. From these three aspects, the author analyzes the phenomenon of Chinese and English code-mixing. With 100 graduate students' questionnaires from Harbin University of Science from the schools of liberal arts, sciences and engineering, we collected their recording corpus in everyday life, through quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis of Chinese and English codemixing motives, and the social linguistic and cultural significance that Chinese and English code-mixing phenomena reflect.From the 100 postgraduate student's questionnaire results, we can clearly see that Chinese and English code-mixing has the following kinds of motivation: postgraduate students use Chinese and English code-mixing to fill the vocabulary vacancy, they choose to use Chinese and English code-mixing to avoid embarrassment, and they use Chinese and English code-mixing to soften their tone. It is very fashionable and popular for postgraduates when they are talking. In the end, postgraduate students believe that if they use Chinese and English code-mixing, people will know that they are good at English, and show off their English. From the above results of questionnaire survey, the majority of postgraduate students surveyed for Chinese and English code-mixing using this expression, holding the attitude of the support. Whatever the motivation, it must come from the language reality, social convention and psychological motivation to comply with the speaker's intention, using Chinese and English code-mixing to achieve the purpose of communication. Finally, I hope this research will focus on code-mixing and it will be of some reference value for researchers and English learners.
