Study On The Phonology Of Shilou (Longjiao) Dialect In Shanxi Province

Longjiao Township is in Shilou Country, Lvliang Municipality, Shanxi province. Longjiao, a township in the northeast of Shilou Country, is located in the west side of Lvliang Mount and the east bank of the Yellow River. It is a part of the Loess Plateau. Shilou (Longjiao) dialect belongs to Fenzhou of Lvliang area, a part of Jin dialect. This paper absorbs the senior scholar's related research results on the basis of fieldwork, and makes the detailed record and the description to Shilou Longjiao dialect's phonetic system.This paper first introduces the geography?population?the evolution of organization system of Shilou Country and Longjiao Township, clarifies the overview, the studying status, significance and research methods of Shilou dialect. Then, describes the phonetic system of Shilou (Longjiao) dialect on these aspects of consonant, vowels, tones and its combinatory rules. Based on the comparison between the phonology of Shilou (Longjiao) dialect and the phonology of mandarin, it explores the differences between them and summarizes the phonetic characteristics of Longjiao dialect, finds out the pronunciation rules, and grasps the development tendency of Longjiao dialect. Furthermore, describes the sound changes of Shilou (Longjiao) dialect. It introduces the two disyllabic tone sandhi patterns, the noun tone sandhi, the similar tone of relative appellation, the separated sounds and the other sound changes of Shilou (Longjiao) dialect. Finally, it discusses the differences between literary reading and colloquial reading in Shilou (Longjiao) dialect. It describes the types of the differences between literary reading and colloquial reading, and analyzes the phonetic pattern reflected by it, hoping people to further understand the phonetic system of Shilou (Longjiao) dialect.
