Traditional folk art is a shining pearl in Chinese history and is regarded as an art form which is created by the masses using the method of observing for images or replacement and reconstruction during the productive labor.It is applied to the common people’s daily life and bears their spiritual support by the cultural connotation of the folk art.With the changing times,people’s life is also experiencing great changes which include the updating wishes on life and new connotations on the new folk.Therefore,the folk art is also looking for different art forms to carry the aesthetic needs of modern people.Modern murals are more and more popular for their various subjects,abundant contents and gorgeous colors among the modern people.It can not only decorate and beautify our environment,but also convey the national spirit and educate the masses.The most common thing among modern murals and the folk art is that they have common service object.Utilizing the meaning or the form of folk art in the modern murals can bring a new opportunity to the development of folk art.In the paper,firstly it will deal with the connotation of folk art and the living environment of folk art.Secondly,it will elaborate the relationships between folk art and modern murals,which will better understand their commonness and individuality.Next,it will show how to use folk art to express in the modern murals by the modern murals expression.In the last part,it will intensively study the expression of folk art in the modern murals by the creation of mural "Scenery whispers" to interpret the cultural connotation of folk art.In this way,we can better inherit and protect our folk art and provide more cultural nourishment for our Chinese modern murals.
