After the bourgeoisie coup in 1932, Thai people had suffered long under the high pressure rule from the military government. With the victory of anti-Fascist war in worldwide, the workers' and peasants' revolution movement pursing peace and democracy was soared in Thailand. As a result, during the period from 1950 to 1957, literary movements aimed in ‘literary for life, literary for people' appeared in Thailand. Literary works in that period are generally categorized as realistic literature. Yet, with the military coup by Salitanale in 1958, the democracy revolution movement in Thailand was repressed violently and all enlightened personages were persecuted. Literary-for-life pursers in Thai believed that literary works should reflect the real life in the purpose of exposing the decadent and the darkness of the society, and to point out a bright path to the future. They believed that it is the ‘ragtag' of old days should dominate the history of literature. The title of this article is comparing the literature representative works in Thailand in 1950 s. And there are 6 parts in this artic le. The introduction introduces the reasons of the topic, research direction, research status of domestic and overseas, research significance and research methods. The first chapter tells the developing history of Literary-for-life and author's life. There is a comparison of the story line, character and the main idea of the two novels in the next three chapters. The conclusion of the research result in this thesis:Although there is a great difference of life background of the authors, as the realism literatures in contemporary reflecting the social conflicts and exposing the decadent and the darkness of the society, both of Forward Looking and Devil have three characters : feudal aristocracy, young intellectual and ‘ragtag', which present via traditional omniscient perspective and begin with a flashback narrative and the main narrative method of sequence and second narrative method of narration interposed. However, Forward Looking would be more plain and simple and Devil has a better employ in artistic method due to the diversity of life background of the authors in the applying of the expression of the figure and the expression of main idea of the novel.
