| Although the grammatical structures of Thai and Chinese are very similar, there are still many grammatical differences between these two languages, which must be considered. After all,the usage of the Chinese attributive suffix “的” is still very difficult for many Thai students, who learn Chinese as a foreign language. This paper mainly focuses on the Chinese attributive suffix “的” and Thai attributive suffixes,e.g.Ti and Kong, and conducts comparative research between these two.The main difference between these two is:In Chinese, the word "的" is placed in front of the main part of a sentence, but in Thai the attributive suffix is placed after the main part of a sentence. In Chinese “的” is the only attributive suffix, but in Thai there are many different forms of attributive suffixes like “的”,such as “???(kong)、???(ti)、????(Seung)、???(an)、????(heang)、? ?????(samrab)、??(nai)”.When translating a phrase or sentence from Chinese into Thai, some attributive suffixes must stay or must be judged, some structures need to add de,other structures don′t need to add de.If you want add attributive suffixes, then you always must use attributive suffixes. Therefore, when Thai students learn Chinese, they often mix up the usage and meaning of the word "的".In the same way, problems occur, when they use Thai words wrong in order match up with Chinese word “的”.Thai students always only replace “de” with “kong” and “ti”.Based on this issue, the thesis discusses the factors of how to use the word “的”in Chinese sentence constructions to point out 7 Thai words that can be used instead of“的”in any situation. In addition,in this thesis the criteria for using the word “的" of Chinese and Thai attribution are compared and analysed.Furthermore, find out the similarities and differences in the Chinese and Thai languages for Thai students to use, when they learn Chinese. This thesis investigates and collects research data by using questionnaires as a research method. The results from 200 Thai students are compared and analyzed to find out the most common mistakes. It is divided into two groups to conduct surveys, and to compare and analyse the error phenomena in their usage. This questionnaire survey is divided into two versions. One version explored the multiple attributive conjunctions of Thai students who learn Chinese in Thailand. They translated into Thai, and they related to ???(ti),????(Seung)and ???(an)for which attribute mark should be used as a conjunction between a word and a word, between a word and a central language. On the other hand, the second version tested Thai students studying at the International College of Southwest University in Chongqing. They were asked how to use Thai particles ???(ti)、????(Seung)、???(an)to replace the Chinese attribute “的”in the sentences, when they translated into Thai. Then analyzed the data from the results of these two test forms. In order to solve the problems of Chinese and Thai attributive words, caused by misunderstanding of Thai students,to help Thai students to learn effectively, and the teachers, who teach Chinese, the following sentence construction suggestions can be made, after carefully analysing the data results: 1)“的”is the morphological mark of the Chinese definite structure.2)The translation of the word “的” in the Chinese definite structure must break through the teaching of how to use the Thai word to correspond to “的”.3)People must focus more on solving the phenomenon of high bias rate. There have been many languages studies by scholars between Chinese and Thai language about sentence structures and other grammar forms before, but there are limited studies have been performed for “的” comparing Chinese and Thai language. This study is one of the first of its kind, and makes an important contribution to the existing literature. This study enriches the existing literature and can be interesting for others scholars, teachers, and language students. The results can also help to raise awareness about this topic among Thai students, who learn Chinese or Chinese students, who learn Thai and teachers to pay more attention to the Chinese and Thai attribute words.Furthermore, the results of this study can be used as a fundamental basis or starting point to create a practical language learners guide for Thai and Chinese students in the future, which will help them to correctly use Chinese and Thai attribute words. |
