Teaching antonym is important part of Teaching Chinese as A Second Language.But, we didn't pay a lot of attention to the antonym, especially the asymmetry of antonym. Actually, antonym is useful in the communication, sometimes; however, we ignored the asymmetry of antonym. It's like this, when we want to know the depth of one river, what we will say is “How deep is this river?” not “How shallow is this river?” The reason about why we use “deep” not “shallow” is about the Markedness Theory.Some scholar used the Markedness Theory in the research, but most of them focus on the Chinese grammar. This paper will use the Markedness Theory into the research of Chinese vocabulary, to explain the asymmetry in Chinese and Interlanguage and try to give some advice about how to compile the books for foreign students.The main content of this article includes three parts which are as follows:(1) According to the “Da/Xiao” antonym groups the, to figure out the marked/unmarked cases; and to explain the asymmetry in grammars and vocabulary.(2) To find out these five “Da/Xiao” antonym groups' usage in Interlanguage.(3) By means of the researches like preamble, use these conclusions into the teaching progress and try to give some advice to the books.
