Stephen Soong is a famous redologist,writer,literary critic and translator in Hong Kong.He studies A Dream of Red Mansions for forty years.Until his death,he had been thought of his redology papers.His representative in redology research articles The Development Direction of the New Redology,On the Grand View Garden,On Jia Baoyu is the Crown of Flowers etc.had caused a huge impact.The Study of A Dream of Red Mansions is his posthumous publication.And he has evaluated Hawk's translation,wrote A Dream of Red Mansions Journey to the West-Fine Evaluation of New Translation A Dream of Red Mansions.As friends,Stephen Soong met many redologists,with vivid brushwork recorded their unknown side of.Particularly important,Stephen Soong helped redologist such as Eileen Chang,for the spread of A Dream of Red Mansions and made a contribution to the development of redology.He is such a scholar,as a result of his work was never published in mainland China,the mainland readers want to see his article is very difficult,so know little about it,also very few for his review and evaluation of the studies on redology.So this thesis focus on make up for the shortage.This article main body part has six chapters.First chapter combed Stephen Soong's life and redology works,at the same time,make a summary and analysis of the existing studies,it is concluded that the current achievements and shortcomings.Second chapter respectively from A Dream of Red Mansions Stephen Soong theory research development direction in A Dream of Red Mansions,the environment of A Dream of Red Mansions,the characters of A Dream of Red Mansions,the medical in A Dream of Red Mansions,the extraction and evaluation version and author of A Dream of Red Mansions,Dictionary of A Dream of Red Mansions of six aspects discusses the Stephen Soong redology view.The third chapter summarizes the Stephen Soong redology research approach and meaning;The fourth chapter discusses his contribution to the spread in A Dream of Red Mansions,etc.The fifth chapter combed the image of his creation of redology of Chinese and western researchers.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of the full thesis.
