The Epitome Of The Change Of Chinese Housing Systems

Recently,housing in China has been the focus of public concern as well as a hot subject in academic research.According to the literature collected by the writer,scholars at home and abroad mainly conducted the research of housing and housing system from political science perspective,economic perspective,social science perspective and legal perspective,and gained fruitful achievements.With the development of housing system,there also appears a series of terms referring to livelihood residence in language.They are called the "X?"word family in this research.However,the study of housing and housing system from linguistic perspective,or rather,the study of housing and development of housing system from the dimension of lexical variation is rather rare.Therefore,this paper reviews the "X?" terms based on Chinese housing systems and their changes since the founding of new China.It applies the law of supply and demand and Principle of Least Effort to inspect the language features of the "X ?" word family and explores the relationship between the word family and housing systems from lexical point of view.The "X ?" word family is extracted from the implementation,improvement and perfection of a series of housing systems of new China.It is also the outcome of the reform,change and development processes of Chinese housing systems.Therefore,it could be regarded as the epitome of various types of housing systems as well as the changes of Chinese housing systems.This paper takes the perspective of linguistic,starts with the variations of the "X ?" word family,inspects the linguistic features of those terms and finally explores the germinal relationship between the development of the "X ?" word family and the change of housing systems.The analytical theory applied in this paper includes the law of supply and demand and Principle of Least Effort.The relationship of supply and demand of language is manifested in two aspects.From the sheer existence of language point,the communication among people raises the demand for language.That's why languages come into existence.From language morphology point,the input amount of language has influence on the meaning in the process of communication.That's why there are words of different length.The Principle of Least Effort exhibited in word economy also has two main manifestations.On one aspect,it is the Force of Unification from the speaker's economy;on the other aspect,it is the Force of Diversification from the auditor's economy.The real effort-saving exists in the balance achieved by the compromise between the two forces.Only words coined under this condition could be regarded as economy and effort-saving.This paper first and foremost selects seven frequently used housing terms based on or related to Chinese housing systems and defines them as the "X ?" word family for this research.It reviews the terms in a chronological order,summarizes the definitions,presents the origins and puts forward the representative documents.Secondly,the law of supply and demand is applied to illustrate the appearance of the word family.The research finds that with the advancement of society and development of economy,different concepts of housings are put forward in succession.When the current language system does not have a proper term to refer to a certain type of housing,people will coin a new one as needed.Gradually,the terms referring to different types of housings form the "X ?" word family.Moreover,a new term is not made up groundlessly.It is influenced by both demand amount of language and input amount of language,and finalizes its morphology with the maximization of utility.Thirdly,this paper also applies Principle of Least Effort to inspect the features of the "X ?" word family.In aspect of word formation,methods of clipping,blending,generalization and analogy are applied to present the effort-saving on the morphology of the "X ?" word family.In aspect of semantic structure and meaning,though each term of the "X ?" word family is only composed by three characters,it is informative enough to covey a distinct meaning and realize the communicative purpose between the speaker and the auditor.Finally,from perspective of the inter-relationship between language and institution,the variation of the "X ?" word family manifests the development of housing systems.The system is written by language,in the meantime,language and variation of language can manifest the development and change of the systems.The study of the variations of the "X ?" word family provides enlightenments as following.First of all,language runs through every aspect in social life and is inextricably linked to society.Language researchers should be sensitive towards language,notice the changes happened in language,and further find out the changes in society through language study.Next,the economic principles and methods are not only applicable to analyzing economic related subjects;they can also be applied to inspect certain language phenomenon and features.All in all,this paper inspects the language features of the variations of the "X ?" word family as well as the evolution process of those terms,providing a fresh perspective for both housing study and language study.It brings inspirations to some degree to language researchers and professional persons engaged in interdisciplinary research.
