Xu Wei was a master in the Ming dynasty,who achieved outstanding achievements in the fields of poetry,essay,painting and drama.He had an indissoluble bond with secularization,living in the atmosphere of the deepening collision of elegant and popular literature in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.He had unique insights on literature and art,especially on drama as the popular literature;his poems had the tendency of secularization;at the same time he was actively engaged in popular literature.This paper is expected to take Xu Wei as an example,to catch a glimpse of the unique trace of the blend of elegant and popular literature in the literary history of the Ming dynasty.The introduction part of this paper mainly introduces the research object and the research status.The first chapter focuses on Xu Wei's literary idea and the tendency of secularization,which summarizes his views of emphasizing the real feelings in literature,pursing the natural language,paying attention to the aesthetic function of literature and then admitting the value of popular literature.Moreover,we illustrate Xu Wei's view of literary development,which is contained in his thought of doing what is appropriate.The second chapter interprets the secularization tendency of Xu Wei's poetry from the three aspects of the content,form and function respectively.The third chapter is a study of Xu Wei's folk literature.On the one hand,we try to describe the different views on the writing time of Si Sheng Yuan,the connection between the four short plays,and the writing intention in academia,explaining Xu Wei's creation psychology in the same time.On the other hand,we try to interpret Xu Wei's popular literature creation of folk songs and riddles.The last part is the conclusion,which puts Xu Wei under the background of the whole literary history of the Ming Dynasty to evaluate his position.
