This is a report on the translation of Chapter One “BEGINNING: POLLUTION” and Chapter Two “Positions” of Ecocriticism by Greg Garrard. The whole monograph has been translated by four members in our group, and my translated chapters cover 1,0172 words in total, conforming to the academic degree requirement.Chapter One and Chapter Two of Ecocriticism introduce the different views and attitudes towards environmentalism and pollution,by the leading-in of the definitions of Ecocriticism and pollution. These two chapters are to make a critical introduction and analysis about Ecocriticism and make a good foundation for the following chapters, including the narratives of related theories such as environmentalism, deep ecology, ecofeminism, social ecology,eco-Marxism and Heidegger's ecophilosophy. The author seeks to make a clear and accurate narrative of the original author's thoughts and ideas, with the guide of functionalism of translation,in accord with Chinese's language. This report analyzes and illustrates the translation process, translation theory, translation methods, difficulties in the process and the thoughts after translation.
