The Conservation And Evolution Of The Mother And Child Theme In The Western Painting

This paper attempts to explain evolution of internal form of Western paintings at different historical periods based on the theme of 'Mother and Child', and defines the relationship between form retaining and evolution in maintaining of Western paintings. Therefore the evolved painting forms are reflected for significance and inspiration to present paintings and individual artistic method.The first part of this paper generally explains the internal concept of development of Western paintings—form manifestation based on the supreme concept of form as the basic inner thought of artistic creation; the second part, along the development of time, "evolution from Madonna and Child to Mother and Child'is centered to discuss the artistic method of paintings themed'Mother and Child'in Western paintings, to analyze in-depth form retaining and evolution via artistic form features of composition, proportion, color, line and others as well as their transformation; the third part is about reflection on the significance of'form retaining and evolution'to modern paintings and individual creation.
