The evolution of foreign languages education policies in China's colleges and universities embodies Marxism educational thought specifically in the field of foreign languages teaching. It constantly enriches the sinicization of Marxism and also specifically reflects its modernization and popularization in the process of Marxism sinicization.Taking the course of Marxism sinicization as the main thread, this paper divides the evolution of China's foreign languages education policies into three periods, i.e. the period from the founding of the PRC to the reform and opening up(1949-1978), the period of reform and opening up(1978-2000) and the new century(since 2000). The evolution of China's foreign languages education policies in colleges and universities is canvassed and analyzed, as for the first period, from such aspects as specialty setting, teacher training, preparation of teaching materials, and students, against the background of the establishment of the Marxism as the guiding theory; as for the second period, from such aspects as specialty setting, teacher training, and languages setting, against the background of Dengxiaoping's “three orientations”theory at the beginning of the reform and opening up; and as for third period, from such aspects as specialty setting, teacher training, professional foreign languages, public foreign languages, and languages setting, against the background of China's accession to the WTO,economic globalization and integration into the world. From the elaboration of the overall foreign languages education policies during these three periods, close links exist between the sinicization of Marxism and the evolution of foreign languages education policies in China's colleges and universities, and such a process is a process of continuous enrichment of the sinicization of Marxism educational philosophy, and specific refraction of its modernization and popularization in the process of sinicization.A study of the sinicization of Marxism's educational theory from the perspective of evolution of foreign languages education policies in China's colleges and universities not only provides a relatively new perspective to the study foreign languages education policies in China's colleges and universities, but also helps to explore how the connotation of Marxism sinicization has been continuously enriched, and reveal the specific evolution and dissemination mechanisms for its sinicization, modernization and popularization.
