As a new kind of art, film began to influence and fuse with literature, and exerted a huge impact on modern novelists. There are many cinematic elements in Fitzgerald's novels, which are not only because of the intimate relationship of novel and film, but also because of Fitzgerald's experiences related to film.In regard to using cinematic elements, first of all, there are a lot of cinematic subjects in Fitzgerald's novels, which reveal the truth and essence of film and film industry. Among these subjects are descriptions about Hollywood which highlight the author's focus on American dream and American society, and portrayals of scriptwriters and actors which enhance the beautiful appearance and unreal magic of film. The frequently discussed themes such as dream, success, fortune, youth and time in Fitzgerald's works are enriched and stressed through cinematic subjects. Secondly, cinematic visualization is characteristic in the narration of Fitzgerald's novels. On the one hand, he uses the literal parallel of camera shots and views, such as long shot, slow motion, freeze frame, soft focus etc. to narrate scenes and describe characters, adding sense of reality in the novels. On the other hand, he borrows film editing techniques in his works, such as montage, fades and dissolves to achieve flexibility in narrative time and space. Cinematic visualization offers unique charm to Fitzgerald's novels. Not only does it innovate his novel techniques, visualization also stresses his multiple themes and enriches his narrative style.
