This practical translation report is based on a translation project of the book The Great Financial Crisis:Causes and Consequences which is written by John Bellamy Foster and Fred Magdoff and published by Monthly Review Press in 2009. The text translated by the author mainly introduces the background of financial crisis in 2008. The original authors made a rational comparison between the crisis in 2008 and the 1940s with analysis of various economists'viewpoints in order to give readers a deep understanding of the financial crisis.Economic English readings are playing more and more important roles during the process of globalization, which are difficult to translate because of background information, terminologies and cultural differences. In order to have a better understanding of the source text, the author pays much attention to the acceptance capability of targeted readers by using different translation methods. This report is composed of four parts. Part one discusses the background of translation task and significance of this translation report. Part two mainly analyses the features of source text from the perspective of words, sentences and texts. Part three presents different translation strategies to the difficulties, which includes case analysis. Part four concludes the experience and unsolved problems of this translation project. The rest includes acknowledgments, appendix and bibliography.
